The Bus

The Bus is the name of the City of Honolulu's bus system. It has been ranked one of the best bus systems in the U. S. The drivers are friendly and the system is reliable. You can go anywhere on the island of Oahu for $1.50. A monthly bus pass is $27.00. Route numbers are displayed at the top of the bus and also on signs by the bus stop. Call 848-4444 if you need to contact Lost and Found.. Children under 6 ride free. Operating hours are from 5 am to 12:30 am.

Aloha Tower Marketplace and Maritime Museum: Catch the #19 Airport, #19 Airport /Hickam or #20 Airport/Halawa Gate.To return to Waikiki, catch #19 or #20 Waikiki Beach & Hotels on Ala Moana Blvd. past Punchbowl St.
Aloha Stadium/Swap Meet: Take #20 Airport/Halawa Gate. To return, take #20 Waikiki Beach & Hotels or any #50, #51, or #52 marked Honolulu/Ala Moana Center and transfer at Ala Moana to #8 or #19 Waikiki Beach and Hotels.
Bishop Museum: From Kuhio Ave. in Waikiki, take #2 School/Middle Street. To return, go back to School St. and board the #2 Waikiki/Kapiolani Park.
Byodo-In Temple: Take any #19 or #20 bus to Alakea and King Sts. and transfer to #55 Kaneohe/Kahaluu, then get off at Valley of the Temples. To return, take #55 Downtown/Bishop St. to Bishop/King St. On King St., transfer to #2 Waikiki/Kapiolani Park, #2 Waikiki/Campbell, or #19 or #20 Waikiki Beach Hotels.
Downtown Honolulu: This includes Mission Houses Museum, Kawaiahao Church Iolani Palace, State Capitol, Washington Place, King Kamehameha statue and Chinatown. From Kuhio Ave., take #2 School/Middle St. or #2Liliha/Puunui to Hotel St. #2 buses run frequently all day long. To return, take #2 Waikiki/Kapiolani Park, #2 Waikiki/Campbell Ave. or#19 or #20 Waikiki Beach & Hotels from the oceanside of Hotel St.
Honolulu International Airport: From Kuhio Ave., take #19 Airport, #19 Airport/Hickam or #20 Airport/Halawa Gate and get off at the Main Terminal Bldg. To return, take #19 or #20 Waikiki Beach & Hotels from the same bus stop. Service begins at 4:50 a.m. weekdays; 5:30 a.m. weekends and holidays. Service ends at 11:45 p.m. on weekdays; 11:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Please keep in mind that The Bus does not allow luggage.
National Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl: Take #2 School/Middle St. or #2 Lilita/Puunui Ave. to Beretania and Alapai Sts. (opposite the main Police Station). Walk oceanside on Alapai St. to The Bus stop and transfer to the #15 Pacific Heights. Get off. at the intersection of MaPuowaina and Hookui Sts., the entrance to the crater. Walk about a I 1/2 mile to the Memorial. #2 buses run infrequently; #15 runs once everyhour. To return, walk back out to Puowaina St and wait at The Bus stop. Catch#15 Pacific Heights and transfer on King St. and Ward Ave. (in frontof the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall) to #2 Waikiki/Kapiolani Park or #2 Waikiki/Campbell Ave.

Pearl Harbor

On the mountainside of Kuhio Ave., take #20 Airport / Halawa Gate directly to the memorial and get off opposite the HalawaGate/Arizona Memorial on Kamehameha Hwy. To return, board the#20 Waikiki Beach & Hotels bus at the bus stop on Kamehameha Hwy. fronting the Arizona Memorial. The #20 bus does not run after 5 p.m. weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends. Therefore, board Honolulu/Ala Moana Center bus and transfer at Ala Moana Center at the bus stop marked for #8 or #19 Waikiki Beach Hotels.

Polynesian Cultural Center

Take #8, #19, #20, #58 bus and transfer at Ala Moana Center to the #55 Kaneohe /Circle Island bus. To return, board #55 Honolulu / AlaMoana Center and transfer to #8 or #19 Waikiki Beach Hotels at the Ala Moana Center.

Queen Emma Summer Palace

From Kuhio Ave., take the #4 Nuuanu/Dowsett bus. To return back to Waikiki, board the #4 University / Waikiki.

Sea Life Park

Take the #22 or #58 Hawaii Kai/Sea Life Park. To return to Waikiki, take #22 Waikiki Beach Hotels or #58 Waikiki/Ala Moana Center.

Waimea Valley, Home of Waimea Falls Park

Take #8, #19, #20 or #58 and transfer atthe Ala Moana Center i to #52Wahiawa/Circle Island. To return, take bus #52 Honolulu / Ala Moana Center to the center, then transfer to #8 or #19 Waikiki Beach Hotels.

Waikele Factory Stores

Take the #2 Liliha or School St. Get off at Beretania and Punchbowl Sts. with a transfer. Transfer to #48 Waikele/Ewa Mill and get off at Waikele Factory Stores. To return, board #48 Downtown Honolulu/Alapai; get off at King and Punchbowl Sts. with transfer and transfer to #2 Waikiki/Campbell or any Waikiki bus.

Scenic Bus Ride Tour the island via The Bus. The four-hour trip starts when you take #8, #19, #20 or #58 to Ala Moana Center and transfer to #55 Kaneohe / Circle Island or #52 Wahiawa/ Circle Island.
